About the Level 3 Network Cable Installer Apprenticeship
Network Cable Installers play a critical role in ensuring that the business's network infrastructure is reliable, efficient, and functioning as it should be. How? By installing and maintaining your cabling systems. It’s an important task that can save your business time and money. Their focus is on making sure that all devices communicate seamlessly, and all data is transferred securely. They’ll offer quick setups, fast troubleshooting and put preventative measures in place to minimise downtime that can hurt productivity and profitability.
New starters in telecoms or infrastructure.
Staff needing cabling installation training.
Who is it for?

Individual employers will determine the entry criteria, but this will typically include:
GCSEs grade C/4 or above in maths & English.
Other relevant qualifications or experience.
You have to be aged 16 years or over and must be working in the Digital sector for at least 30 hours a week.
You also need to be a resident in England and not in full-time education.
Candidates who have not achieved maths, English and ICT skills at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above) prior to commencing their training, will need to achieve this before taking their end-point assessment.

The apprentice will work closely with a senior member of the team, who will act as their mentor and offer comprehensive training in all aspects of the role, including but not limited to:
Interpreting detailed project plans to construct and fix network equipment cabinets, prepare cable pathways, and install cable support and containment systems.
Install network equipment in cabinets in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, including routers, switches and WAN equipment.
Undertake performance-based testing and provision of certification to the customer.
Carry out maintenance where faults have occurred.
Exercise responsibility for the care and maintenance of a wide range of specialist tools, ensuring that equipment is serviceable and in calibration (where appropriate) at all times.
To achieve final certification, the apprentice must pass their End-Point Assessment (EPA).
A pass in the EPA will demonstrate that the Apprentice can apply the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the standard.
