How do Apprenticeships work?

An Apprenticeship is a programme of learning that is designed to enhance an individual’s level of competency and confidence by developing their practical skills and knowledge. It can be used to upskill existing employees or to bring fresh talent into an organisation.

As an employer, you have a great deal of freedom to negotiate an apprenticeship that suits you. You can choose your training provider and end-point assessment organisation, discuss the total cost of training, and have a say in what the apprenticeship should teach your employee.

The Apprenticeship Journey

  • 1. Introduction

Meet the team and go through any queries or concerns you may have. We’ll offer free, impartial advice to help you make a decision that your business, and staff can benefit from.

  • 2. Expert Guidance

We ensure that the training programme is right for your business and will deliver the impact you need. We put the right people on the right programme in terms of job role, ability, and career aspiration. As with any government funded programmes there are some forms to complete, but your account manager will walk you through these.

  • 3. Recruitment / Candidate Nomination

If you’re looking for a new staff member, it’s over to us to dip into our talent pool. We’ll work with you from start to finish to make sure the candidates we present are the right fit for your business. If you’ve got an existing employee who you’d like to upskill, we’ll talk about funding, subsidies and other financial matters at this point.

  • 4. Meet Your Assessor

Your assessor will support the recruitment and on-boarding process for your apprentices. Once ‘on-programme’, they will support your apprentices throughout the programme and provide a crucial link to ensure progress and eventual achievement of the apprenticeship.

  • 5. On Program

This is your apprentice or staff member's first day of learning. Apprenticeships typically last from 12-30 months, and this is the start of their journey to increased productivity and ROI for you as a business, and them as a valued team member.

  • 6. End of Program

The hard work is done, and now it’s time for an End-point assessment (EPA) to test the knowledge, skills and behaviours they’ve learned throughout the process.
